The Giving Methodist campaign is extending this year’s drive to encourage Methodists to persevere in doing good.
1) Give time by being a TGM befriender.
With the pandemic amplifying distance and isolation, people are feeling more and more disconnected from one another. This is especially so among the elderly who may not have access to technology, and distressed families with little resources and limited support network (bed-bound with family unable to visit, or living alone but in need of help with simple tasks).
The increasing social isolation that has permeated the world can be combated when we each choose to step out and make a connection. Volunteer your time to be a befriender and walk alongside another. You can offer some companionship to fill the longing of someone else in need.
To journey with a beneficiary from a participating MWS Centre or Methodist Church ministry, register HERE by 30 October 2021 and a member of the MWS team will get in touch with you. Training will be provided.
2) Give a donation.
Uplift those whose circumstances remain dire with a regular giving of $40 a month, or an outright donation HERE. Your giving could potentially impact the lives of more than 8,000 whom we serve through Methodist church ministries or MWS centres & programmes.
All funds raised will be channelled to providing critical help through MWS’ 20 services and programs to over 8,000 beneficiaries, including disadvantaged youth and children, socially isolated seniors, the frail, sick and destitute, and families in need.
With a longer runway, The Giving Methodist hopes to sustain this befriending platform to be a blessing for as many people as possible. With close to 500 individuals in need of befriending, there are still many more of us who can make a positive impact in these lives.
