Pastor’s Message

Brothers and Sisters, we are children of God, blessed with His presence and abundant life, because someone, by faith, shared the gospel with us.

Ultimately, Singapore received the gospel because missionaries from afar, by faith, endured hardships to bring us the good news. It is our privilege to pass on this blessing today.

Therefore, let us pray earnestly and by faith, go to the earth’s desolate places, bringing God’s help and hope to people displaced by war and suffering.

By faith, go to the mega-cities, bringing God’s love and peace to those harassed by the ravages of this world.

By faith, go across the HDB corridor or your workplace, living out Jesus’ love to a neighbour or colleague who has come from a distant land.

Disciple of Christ, by faith, go forth and shine!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why missions?

Jesus commissioned His people to carry the gospel to the ends of the earth. Two passages in Scripture expound on this: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18–20); “Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you” (John 20:21).

Where shall I begin?

Seek the Lord and ask for discernment. Ask for compassion for a people group or nation. Explore opportunities to serve with BMC and missions organisations.

Do I need to be a member of BMC to go on these trips with BMC?

No. Mission trips are open to all – members and non-members.

Do I need to have any previous missions experience?

No. Some trips require specific skills or professional knowledge (e,g, medical background). Other than that, these trips are open to anyone who would like to apply.

What do you do on a missions trip?

Each trip is different so you will need to read through the ministry descriptions. The ministry could involve using your God-given skills such as praying, preaching, teaching, testimony sharing, street evangelism, music or sports, cooking, or business training.

What is the age criteria?

You have to be at least 21 years of age. Members who are below the age of 21 may apply to join the mission with the consent of their parents.

Who should I go with?

You can go as a group or as an individual.

What constitutes a mission team?

You can form a mission team with your DG, your ministry group, your family, or an interest group of believers. Every team must be led by a BMC team leader.

What happens if my DG members are not ready to go on missions?

You can go first with those in your group who are ready to step out. You can also collaborate with others and form a bigger group together.

How long is each mission trip?

The duration of the trip is tied down to the opportunity your group signs up for or customises with the missions agency. It is recommended that the trip be 4 days or more to maintain effectiveness.

How do I prepare myself? What missions training is available?

– BMC will provide an in-house Missions Equip training in March. Most missions agencies you sign up with will provide a pre-trip orientation.
– Sign up for BMC Missions Summit 13-15 June.
– You can also seek external training on your own.

How do I apply for a missions trip? (applicable for indviduals goers or leaders of teams)

– Apply for the mission opportunity with the missions agency.
– Once successful, complete this BMC Missions Registration Form 3 months before the purchase of air tickets.
– Complete a BMC Indemnity Form that will be sent to you.

What happens if I am not well?

It will bid you well if you are medically fit or mentally well for the mission. This will benefit you, the team, and the ministry. Check in with your doctor of your status. There are many opportunities available to you after your recovery.

Is buying travel insurance for the mission trip compulsory?

Yes. You have to purchase a valid travel insurance in place covering the duration of the trip. You have to provide proof of your purchased insurance in the BMC indemnity form.

How do I raise funds for the mission trip?

Each team member has the opportunity to raise his or her own financial support in order to go on a mission trip. You can tap on your own finances or you can raise support by asking potential donors to contribute toward the trip. You can apply for subsidised funding from BMC.

Who is eligible for subsidised funding?

BMC members who are in need of financial support are eligible for subsidised funding. A non-BMC member joining the team would not be eligible for the subsidy unless he/she is a child (below 23 years old) of a BMC member or has been attending the age group ministries regularly, with confirmation from ministry leaders.

What expenses can be reimbursed?

Reimbursement can be made for actual project costs incurred during the mission trip, such as conducting outreach event(s), training and community work, purchase of materials etc. Such expenses shall be reasonable for the location and appropriate for the ministry involved and will be reimbursed up to 70% and capped at S$1,000 per day and not more than S$3,000 for overall trip.
The trip treasurer will submit the final trip accounts and expenditure and consolidate one submission with receipts for claims for the team.

How do we make claims for the mission trip?

The amount of Subsidy for Travel and Living Cost will be 50% of total travel and living cost per person or S$300 per person, whichever is the lower.
Mission teams are to consolidate all the expenditure and submit the receipts and statement of accounts, as follows:
